Thanks IFF, I try to make them look a little bit more buggy. Seems to work more the less I stress about some details. as you can see the fish still like them.

can't make out what brand of rod that is, that an 8 weight rod you tackled that pike with ? Makes me want to get mine out and see If I can find some suitable waters I can afford to travel to.

That's a nice , buggy looking fly. As has been said here before, it's more about movement than replication.

I've got all the stuff to duplicate it already. What hook are you using for that one? Looks like it could b downsized for crappies too.

I was just watching River Monsters. He was fishing Arapima on a fly rod. The one he filmed was enormous. 2 guys couldn't pick it up or control it. He was tossing a gigantic craft fur fly. Looked like a chicken on a hook.

I know basswood is easy to carve, but not sure how well it would hold the screw in eyelets. Might have to epoxy them in.

took a trip to all seasons for supplies , I really like that store and the people in it ..helpful not pushy and they love to talk fishing on a normal level...prices are good too ...I looked at the preditor suit too ....
