speaking of old bones, I spoke to my resident friend Hunts2 long on Great Sag, He told me the boys are out on 3 to 5" of Ice On the 18th of this month they will measure the ice thickness at sinclare point It needs to be 9" by then for them to hold the challenge.figuring it will be at least 12" by the 30th,After this rain sunday Its not going to be above freezing for more than a week ,that should do it  :icefish: :icefish: :icefish:

57 at noon. Drop the wife of for grocery shopping, then take in some football. Black Pond was all locked up yesterday. 1/2 inch or so. At least it's ready to go once the cold sinks in. No more rain please. Anyone do a drive by on Highland, Winch or Park Pond? Get my butt out of gear and get out next weekend.

I'm thinking we should be good to go most places this coming weekend. The forecast looks cold enough, especially Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it.

My son and I walked out of cabela's around 9:45 this morning into what looked like a mini hurricane; dark grey skies, strong winds and a sideways downpour. Glad it's winding down so we can get back to the business of making ice.

So here's a fun question to consider as we all jump back into the work week; where are you all going to try first, once things get back to safe?

For me, it'll probably be Mansfield, Mashapaug or Gardner.

-Eric

19 in South Windsor this morning, the back pond is frozen over again after almost completely thawing during the rain, I'm going to try and get out there tonight or tomorrow morning to check thickness.

just dropped to freezing at 6pm, snow with these dropping temps should help freeze our waters

20 this morning, it didn't appear that the local ponds had any more ice than yesterday. Barely a dusting of the white stuff on the lawn.

30 in South Windsor this morning, the pond has ice but less than an inch.  Spud punched right through no problem.  Forecast doesn't look like solid ice making weather here anytime soon either.

We should start a thread titled "How windy is it?" It's killing us right now.
