Calling for heavy rain on Sunday.  Let's hope they're wrong.

Looks like a good weekend for the ez up shelter.  Mount Tom had a skim at the shore on Sunday when I brought my canoe there.  I can check later this week and provide a report.   It has been very windy in western ct and moving water doesn't freeze well.
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!

8 in Gbury this morning when I woke up at 6. It feels colder than that here at the shop in the South end of Hartford. The wind always whips across Bulkeley High School's softball field. It's crazy cold here!

8 in South Windsor this morning too.  The pond in the backyard finally has solid ice across it this morning, not just a thin skin.

Was just out checking ice this afternoon at 2 local ponds in the northeast part of the state. Had 3 to 3 1/2 inches of ice on both of them. Tonight should make it a lot closer to 4. I'll be attempting to ice fish on Saturday morning... Would be out tomorrow but I have to work

The BIG one is just one flag away!

11 in Trumbull. How do you think this rain and warmup this weekend will affect the little we have so far?

Only went a half step on. The ice was super clear. Only about an 1.5 or so probably, it cracked as I stepped off. Maybe enough for this weekend though.

Hope to take a ride Saturday, Tackle in tow.  The latest forcast had the rain not as heavy as I had heard this morning, if you want to believe them. Cold temps next week should lock more up..

I've been enjoying the Niantic River scalloping season but itching to get out of the boat and onto the ice. I may scout out some places in NE CT but my area (SE corner) will probably not be fishable this weekend with the expected temps. Maybe a road trip is in order?

Wunderground has a high of 52 for the "icebox of Connecticut" on Sunday. Between Saturday night and Sunday, they are also calling for 1.25" of rain. Let's hope they're way off...

Octanehi5 I 100% agree. I don't think one day will wipe out everything that we have. It's saying 80% chance but I don't think it will be hard enough to make a lot of damage and Monday the weather goes right ack down into the low 30s
