Sides like chips, doritos, slaw, tater salad, beans etc... are good cold and easy to serve. I will be bringing plenty of paper/plastic ware for it all.

Brandon, last time icefishinlady you and I fished together was on St. Claire I think?? We need to do it again this Saturday!!! I will not promise anywhere near the normal results I post for ya, but the Pike will be there enforce!!!!

Yesterday I didn't see any pike much over 30 inches. If you run out of tip up bait there are plenty of baitsized perch and gills. The more lines in one area the more action, thats atleast what I saw. Luckily you don't have to pull the shanty far seeing that we will be getting even more snow.

In Michigan this is indeed legal. Suppose to count as part of your limit....but once it is in the belly of a pike it is hard to count (LOL)

Thats what I thougth, but when I was fishing with someone last week and mentioned doing it they said that was illegal. I got checked 2 days ago by a DNR Officer while fishing with a tip up but all he checked was to make sure I had name and address on the tipup. Didn't want to ask him at the time if the bluegill on the other end was ok or not.....

Deffinately bring the radios. Planned on posting this for a couple days and keep forgetting. Thought a lower channel like 5 would be good as we do noy know how many channels everyone has. Does that sound good to you guys?

? If we run out of decent space in the parking lot it would be good to be able to call each other to valet sardine can park the trucks and to ring the dinner bell by!!

Hi all!

Although I am not an ice fisherman, I have a question to pose to the group about your gathering this weekend.

I am a college student who goes to school out in Boston. I am home visiting the family for break in NW Ohio, and I write for multiple college publications, including a campus magazine that covers pretty much anything that is interesting and non-fiction.

I photograph and write for them, and they told me that, if possible, while I was home to do a photo story and write an article about something interesting that I encountered while I was home.

To go with the season, I thought that I might profile some ice fishermen. I was wondering if I could possibly come out to your meet-up this weekend to see what ice fishing is all about, maybe do an informal interview or two, take some pictures, etc.

If anyone feels uncomfortable contributing to the article, I would be totally respectful of that and only profile individuals interested in doing so. I would also bring along a dish as there seems to be a potluck forming.

So what is everyone's thoughts on this seemingly odd request?
