I think some of the home made traps I've seen on here are the best - especially for the guys that made them, I have some home made traps as well and plan to make more when I have extra time.   ::)   I have a set of superior that have lasted me a loooong time (gamefisher can also swear by them), but my vote would have to go to JackTraps. I have a few and like them very much.  :tipup:

jack traps for me . got a set of 5 last year and love em . Heritage lakers are a close second as i had them for years and all they needed was a little tuning up each fall. the bad thing about lakers is the way the pin for the spool is just pressed in. If you dont modify it you risk losing a spool, or a trophy :'(

I can't see how anyone doesn't love jack traps!! I think they are beautiful and with minimum of basic maintenence, should last a lifetime. And you can see a flag on the big bob from about a quarter mile away... heheh..

Sometimes, I like to fish my 2 big bobs furthest away from where I'm set up for salmon, right under the ice. No one walking around the traps to scare off the salmon and you can see those flags from a really long distance.

BEST trap ever made!
