ANYTHING BUT jackcrap traps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jackcrap traps are great kindling and that's about it  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think the best trap come down to about four different ones and it depends on the snow and ice. Here they are Continental tip up, Heritage Laker,Polar tip up, Origanal Moosehead are what I would say are the best traps out there. I would not spend one red cent on a jackcrap trap at all.  End of story.

i love my continentals! just bought 3 heritage. own 2 frabill big foots, 1 polar tip-up, 2 modified tip-ups, and a few crappy ones.

haha, dont worry i wont. i have some 3 or 4 old heritage, 5 polar ht's, 2 orginal mooseheads, 1 ht windless, and 2 smaller traps(not sure what kind)

I can't see how anyone doesn't love jack traps!! I think they are beautiful and with minimum of basic maintenence, should last a lifetime. And you can see a flag on the big bob from about a quarter mile away... heheh..

Have you see and read the post on General Ice Fishing Chit Chat (page 3) that was titled Jack Traps. Not a whole lot of good things to say about Jack traps.

I explained this last year but I will explain it again this year, The guy that builds them is full of crap to be nice hence the name jackcrap trap. Also have seen many troubles with them out on the ice, frozen reels,wind flags,reels wind backwards, ect,ect,ect. jackcrap traps they are and always will be in my eyes.

i have about 40 traps , i got into buying them on e bay.
there all recondisioned with new parts and poly on the wood ,
new flag trips was most important.
theyll catch any fish that takes the bait

Just a little shorter. If you cant find any moosehead you can still get the thompsons up to Indian Hill trading post in Greenville. Will try to find a few mooseheads for you.

I prefer Jacktraps.  I have a bunch of them.  I prefer them to the others.  I always thought they cost too much until I used them myself. Now that is what I use.  

I have a bunch of heritage too but have had reels pop off, wood split and break along with other issues.  But I also had used many of them for quite a few years.

I have a ton of traps as I take many people fishing and have a set for myself, my wife and my kids.  

Use whatever you want or have.  It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.  As long as the flag pops up when the fish bites does it really matter?

I don't think you would go wrong with any of the quality traps mentioned.  

Sure beats the old junky traps I had growing up that never seemed to work right.  I know I lost or missed many fish due to the many issues I had with them, but I kept fishing.
