I stopped after work yesterday and Driskels Lake had 4 inches. Never ice fished there but it's close to work. Lewis Lake had 15 guys out there, didn't stop & check the ice but I'd imagine it was about the same....

RonSki,......years ago Driskol used to have some nice crappies in it.  I have never ice fished it but have fished it out of a boat.  Caught some average sized gills.

Juno and painter are froze over. No one out of Juno channels as of this past weekend, but they are fishing out on the painter channels.

How do you get access to Painter Lake if you wanted to ice fish it????

I have ice fished Driskels and if you go straight out from launch and locate 10ft-15ft. then go left towards shore line you will find Crappies!!

Doe's Driskels have a day time crappie bite or just night time bite.

There are monster gills in Driskel Lake. Across the lake from the boat launch at the far north end of the lake there is a 8-15 ft deep cove that is very capable of producing master angler gills. Orange/chartreuse is the color, and waxies, butterworms, and wigglers work well. Throw the medium sized ones back or the fish gods will get ya! LOL

I'll be there first!!  ;)  It's just close to work for me so I figured it would be a nice place to spend an evening, big fish would be a bonus, but I won't catch any big ones. Is there any pike in there?? Me like pike too!! ;D

WOW,  Driskol lake used to have a lot of small gills.  I have never caught a gill over 8 inches out of there.  Might just have to give it a try.

Has anyone been on Driskels lake this winter?  I've never fished there before, would love to try it.  Just wondering if it's worth the trip.

I was heading out also.  It was so slippery, I decided to stay home for today.  I was afraid those 'other' drivers might run into me.  LOL

I just watched the news, hopefully the roads will clear up enough by 3 or so. Really don't want to have to wait until next week! Might still try to get out a little later, even if I have to fish well past dark....   >:(

went out today, don't ask me why! i guess because i've never icefished in a december thunderstorm. checked out round, big crooked, magician and dewey pretty dicey ice conditions. drove out to cassopolis saw about 8 guys on stone lake so i joined them. about 4 inches of fishable ice but going quickly. caught a few gills. miserable weather but nice to finally get out. if it get cold these will be good again soon.
 be safe.

thanks, I found it on a map this morning.  If you do get out today, let us know about ice conditions. I've got family in town today, but tomorrow, I'm free and clear if I can find some good ice somewhere.

thanks

If you go to Kirk its a long drive back into the woods. With this warm weather it could be muddy on the two track going in. Be careful or you will get stuck! Wait for it to harden up again.

I second that! There's some reall nasty holes back there & 4 wheel drive is no guarantee!! On the positive side, it kinda keeps some people from going there too I'd guess...

Made a trip back to Kirk this evening just to take a look.  I don't see how anyone could get on unless they had some long boards or a extention ladder.  Nobody out there either.
