Haven't heard of Gravel. Where is it?

Spoke with the guy at Trading Post who said that Juno was not ready but some were on Painter, but that would scare me!  I did see a guy on Dayton Lake, but he did not last long.

Best of luck to all this year, but stay safe!

How much ice was there on Kirk lake and have you ever fished Belas lake? As of Friday, Diamond lake was only partially frozen, it keeps opening and closing with the weather. Donnell and Paradise were wide open. Lewis lake was frozen, but ugly and it didn't look like anyone had even walked out there to check it. I know Simonton Lake had over 4 inches in the narrows by the boat launch. There were tracks in the snow from quite a few people and there was someone out there when I was checking. But only over the shallow water as the western basin had opened back up and refroze only 2 days before.  Anyone fish Driskels lake??

Thanks Limitingout, hopefully now that it's 11 degrees we can start putting more fishable lakes on the list! Nothing over the freezing mark in the forecast   ;D  ;D

Just made a road trip of some area lakes.  Pleasant lake in Edwardsburg had nobody out on it.  It was frozen all the way across and didn't see any sign of anybody that had been on it.  Cobert lake in Edwardsburg was also frozen all the way across but nobody on it.  Nobody on Eagle lake, but a few fishing the channel clear on the east end of the lake.  Didn't see anybody on any of the other channels.  I saw people fishing Painter lake channels but don't know how they got on.  There were no trespassing signs all over the place.  Unless they walked right on through them.  A few people fishing Juno lake channels.  Long lake up in Union had nobody on it and didn't look good right now.  Nobody on little baldwin and it didn't look to good.  The north end of baldwin didn't look that good either with nobody on it.  It looked like Indiana lake just got a skim of ice on it.  But it is always a late freezer.  Nobody on Garver, it is also a late freezer.  Now in Indiana, Heaton lake had 2 guys fishing on the south shore about in the middle of the lake.  The north side of the lake looked like it just refroze again.  And that is it for this road trip.

There was one vehicle at the access and he must have walked the edge of the lake to the first channel.  I saw the foot prints.  I don't know how the others got on.

Hey Pricecraft, you likely drove right by me tonight. Nothing to do at work so I initially set out to find some ice. Couldn't find my spud so I decided to try to get one more deer instead & I hunt right across the street from Indiana lake. Didn't see a thing either so now I'm done hunting & all ice fishing mode now. I'll be checking a little here and there almost every day on the way home from work & with the temps staying cold it shouldn't be long. Would be nice to have someone to fish with once in a while if you don't mind, all my friends seem to have bad priorities (work & women)!!!   ;)

Any reports on some the tiny lakes around the Jones/Mottville area? I would think they would lock up pretty quick.

I would think they would be ok. At least most of the smaller lakes.  I saw a guy yesterday walk halfway across juno lake.  Would I have did that?  No way.  But he said the ice was just as thick as where I was.

I heard that people are fishing the Gravel Lake channel.  Belas Lake is shallow and weedy.  Some success at Kirk Lake last year.  Belas and Kirk are hard for me to get to if too much snow.  2wd ford ranger has a rough time getting back there with deep snow.  Bogart Lake, if I'm not mistaken has a lot of springs which you have to be very careful of.  Good Luck to all this year and may we have thick ice.
