Hey man, nothing but the truth here, no joke. I'll be SARCASTICALLY obvious if I am joking. I want to gain info like I give info on this site. No nonsense. I've learned quite a bit from this site, and I would have to say that is why it is so popular. Nice topic headline though. Makes it sound like we are all making **censored** up dude. If you stick aorund this site for a little while, you'll see that it is quite a useful resource. ;)

I was fishing a lake here in central Iowa for pike late last summer and we weren't really having any luck.  I figured I'd switch to the old "go to bait" and put on a 10 pound circle hook baited with a seagull the size of a small car.  First cast I had this guy follow it in and give a slight tug.  Fought him for about 4 days but my 4000lb test finally gave out.  Oh well, better luck next time I guess! :whistle:



I'll be going back next year to settle the score!

Na, anything / everything I have posted has been the truth.  I have gained too much from this site to intentionally mislead someone.  If I were to post about a great catch, I'd have pics to back it up....Not that I would need them to prove anything, but I'd feel compelled to share.

Why lie? Its not like your catch of crappie is going to hang from a pole for all to come see. I joined this site because people seem to share info and it doesnt sound like some b.s. story. Look at some of the posts, you'll see guys saying yea they caught them or no they didnt.

Information must be a 2 way street.  One must be leary of the people that have been members for a year and have 3 posts.  They are just fishing for spots.  I am always very open and honest with info via pm. 

A.  to protect my spots
B.  to protect your spots

I had an in depth discussion with another member on here recently about this.  I would feel bad if I dropped a name and it was someone else's honey hole and I would not want the same done to me.

I guess my belief on this is why should one of us do the legwork and find a spot on our own only to have 1 or several of the infinite number of lurkers and guests read it on here and suddenly our spot isn't so productive anymore.

Your thread really got some attention!!!! For myself, I don't have the opportunities to get out and fish very often---so when I do I try to tell the people reading the site when,where w/what etc.,etc.,etc...  They may be in the same "boat" as I am; so let the catch fish as well---not the run around!!!

We all, hopfully, still get excited when we catch fish. I saw a guy catch a 10 1/2 or 11 " fat perch, he started calling on cell phone "I just caught a 14" perch. Needless to say I was interested in seeing it. I didn't have the heart to tell him otherwise, I just said "that's a nice one" It's primal instinct to guard a good food source. So I don't blame anyone who can't share info.

I may have to stretch the truth when trading stories with my fishin' buddies over a few barley pops, some traditions never die.  ::)  ;)

But here on the forums I have noone to impress. I may jokingly remark about myself, gear, or fishin' prowness but it's always followed by  ::)  or ;)  or ;D  or :laugh: hopefully showing all that I'm having a little fun.  ;)   :laugh:

You know how fish stories seem to grow. If you have a decent fish the best thing to do is to get a tape and measure correctly.
