hey duck doctor.....i would like to represent, but i do not know the guidelines, what i need to do to report a fish, what fish i can go after.....i have no computer skills, so posting could be difficult. let me know.......i would represent the junk fish category very well........i fish well over 50 times a winter, so i think that could help our team
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

Duck Doctor you gona set up between rattle snake and ellacoya this year?

It all depends......isn't that a diaper?

I am not sure what is going on.  I usually go with a group of friends as they trailer their 8x10 up for the derby. Where they fish, is where I fish.  I have to give them a call to see if they are going. One guy's g/f just hatched a kid and the other is MIA chasing white tail dear.

If they are not going, I might try to grab a room and bring my small shack down. That is if I can get the time off from work.  If I bring my shack, I will either be between Welch and the other island north of Welch or I will be out on the Broads side of Rattlesnake at night, trying to fill my jet sled full of cusk again this year!

Hope I don't get killed for this but: you should be trying that rock pile inside of Diamond and Rattlesnake for cusk. Used to be a mega producer years ago when I fished that area.

Here is another pointer that many people should know about cusk:

During the derby, cusk are in thier spawning period. They move up from deep water into shallow mud flats and rocks to spawn.  When I fish then during this time of year, I look for sharp drop offs that come up to 10 to 20' or so and flatten out. The deepest I will fish them is about 25' but I have caught them in less than 10' on Winnie.

The Broads side of Rattlesnake drops right off and stays pretty deep all the way out. You best bet is either toward Welch Island off the tip of Rattlesnake ( there is a couple of humps that side also ) or toward the state park side. If you poke around you will find some humps with structure. I use one of those Strikemaster hand held sonars and they work pretty good providing you keep them thawed out and a water bottle with you. Beats drilling a bunch of holes.

If you look at last years results you'll see we don't stand a chance. Too many big fish caught in better fishing locations for ALL species we can catch here.
Of coarse that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. I enetered a pickeral early on but didn't win anything in the weekly drawings. I think DD won something in the weekly drawings though.

I will be targeting White perch, Crappie, Lake trout, Yellow perch, Bass, bows, browns, pics, smelt and the occasional cusk.

I am a lake trout fisherman at heart. I love to catch them, guess it goes back to my codfishing roots. Jig Jig Jig Bam...........Nothing like it. Although nowadays I usually see the fish coming in on the vex or the camera so some of the element of surprise is gone. But still a great feeling.
Crappie and perching can be fun when you find them and they are of decent size.

Go team NH!

Nice fish, were you fishing the spawn of Hampton?
Some days the boats just hammered the big cod. I prefer haddock to eat but the cod are a lot of fun.
