Ill take all the perch I can catch or get from other fisherman. Where I am from, Michigan, Perch is so sought out, its sold in the grocery stores. I still cant figuire out why nobody likes them.... Ill take a perch over a trout anyday.

Are we talking yellow perch or white?  There is a difference.

When they are cooked you do not even notice or know that they are wormy. Don't tell the wife. The worms are harmless.

Perch are some excellent eating fish.

Around here we don't have wormy perch, and perch are sought after pretty hard, and I must agree, I'd take a perch over a trout to eat any day.
The fishing is always great, the catching however, always isn't

Regional differences are pretty neat.  My uncle has sporting camps in Ray, MN and when he is here he would eat a 5-gallon bucket of yellow perch fillets in a sitting if he could.  As for me, I'd rather sit all day and catch one trout than dozens of perch.  But, when I do get into them, I only keep the white perch.  Here in Millinocket, people spend all year chasing white perch and take a togue or salmon as a bonus.  Pretty cool what people like.

If the folks here in Maine could experience Walleye fishing they would abandon the walley's little cousin for sure.

One of the best meals i ever had was at a little fish shack outside of Camp Perry, Ohio. What was on the menu? Yellow perch of course. Camp Perry is right on the shore of Lake Erie.

I grew up in Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie still travel back 3 times a year to Port Clinton, OH.  Two trips a year for walleye and one for perch in the fall.  This year has been a banner year.  Been limiting on walleye early both trips and then filling tickets on some nice jumbo lake perch (yellows).

As someone else mentioned, you can buy yellow perch fillets in the grocery mart.  Earlier this year I saw a sign reading lake perch $12.99/lb and walleye $10.99/lb.

I love going back and being able to order a nice perch dinner with walleye cheek nuggets as an appetizer.

When I first met my wife, we were just goofing off fishing and both of us hooked up on some nice 12-13 inch yellow perch and she unhooked hers and threw it back.  I asked what she was doing and told me that that was just a junk fish, only the whites were any good.  I talked her into keeping them and trying them and we came back with a whole pile in the boat.  She loves them now.

It is funny like you say about the tastes of different regions of the county.

Just a question for the midwest boys, anybody still eat the sheepshead.  We used to smoke them, but now they take up too much room in the coolers that we need for the big ol goggle-eyes and yellow perch.

I think it is where you grew up again on the trout thing.  I like trout, but will take a plate of yellow perch, pike and walleye over any trout any day.

We oughta set up a big ol fish fry on the ice somewhere during a derby or something and everybody bring some of what they caught and fire up the turkey cookers and have a feast.  Some people might be surprised at what they like and start keeping alot more fish that they catch.

My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and it's price competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

I don't eat sheepshead, but I like how Pike was brought up, I talked to a guy last winter that said he'd take pike over perch, walleye, crappies, bluegill, trout, well basically said that was his preferred taste. I have to agree Pike is really good.

Around here the trash fish are the carp, sheepshead, and rock bass.

Went up to Andrusia on the Cass Lake chain in MN this summer for a week. The cabin next to us had two couples from Illinois. They were looking for the rock bass to bring some home. I told them to take all they wanted.

Any of them are good especially if they are fresh, came out of cold water, and they are even better if I caught them.

Crappies, perch, bluegill, pike, walleye, crappie, trout. Even burbot is good eats.

We came in from a day on the ice up in Sioux Narrows with a mess of fish. We fired up the motel's fish cooker (it was around 0°F so the oil was solid in the cooker. We put the gear away and cleaned the fish. We had a mix of burbot, perch, and walleye. Breaded it all threw it all in together. You couldn't tell on from the other. It was all fresh right out of a frozen lake.

I know that there are people in Oswego Ny that line the banks of the Oswego River trying to catch sheephead. Apparently they love them out there.
