You do realize the arctic char he has up there get much larger than your small landlocked char on a regular basis right?

I certainly do.

I caught this one last spring in a local tournament. It's not the giants from above but I'd say it was eating well.

Just a regular McClelland rainbow, very commonly stocked here in Western Colorado.  The lake has lots of minnows, shrimp, big crawdads etc.

What is the biggest you've seen or heard of out of that lake?

It's a small lake and the fish don't live that long, only about six years.  My biggest rainbow there was 26 inches/8 lbs, that's the biggest I've seen and the biggest the DNR officer had ever seen in 20 years, but rumors to 10 lbs.  My wife caught a 10# brown there back when they still stocked a few in the 80's.

Actually six years is not bad. I"ve seen a lot of data that shows in most lakes 3 to 4 years is it for rainbows. Browns sometimes live longer. Brooks sometimes last only a couple of years after planting.

brown-time,

Do these triploids color up at all more than the pics as in spawning colors? I assume they are not only triploids but all females correct?

These were females full of eggs and were immediatley returned.  They use very few triploids in Colorado from my understanding in talking to the fish biologist here.

I just realized I got you confused with the other thread titled "rainbows," sorry! A poster there was talking about triploids.

Nice fish Pondpro! Looks like you have something on the shelf right behind you that makes you look like you're wearing a skull cap.  :)
