I agree, navionics is the key to making a good educated guess on a new body of water. Also, each lake has its own special characteristics but stick to the fundamentals and find preferable structure, drop-offs, weeds, etc and pay attention to water clarity when you drill a hole to help with color/ lure choices. You’ll feel like Al Linder when you can put these things together and catch fish on your own without being put on a spot fishing a specific lure at a specific depth because it worked last week for someone else.
