Guffins chaumont bay
« on: Jan 25, 2023, 03:25 PM »
Hello we are heading to chaumont/ guffins bay next week. We're not looking for secret spots just some general info on where to target walleye. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all tight lines and stay safe.

Best thing to do is have navionics app on your phone.pay for it for a year,I think 15 bucks a year.just find 20 feet of water for starting point and go out deeper if no fish in 20 feet.

Contact Guffins Bay Resort. He charges $5 to park there and will even haul you out for an additional fee. He should have a good idea how the fish are biting too.

I agree, navionics is the key to making a good educated guess on a new body of water.  Also, each lake has its own special characteristics but stick to the fundamentals and find preferable structure, drop-offs, weeds, etc and pay attention to water clarity when you drill a hole to help with color/ lure choices.  You’ll feel like Al Linder when you can put these things together and catch fish on your own without being put on a spot fishing a specific lure at a specific depth because it worked last week for someone else.
I prefer a 2oz sinker for perch...when it hits 'em they won't feel a thing
