Try farther down the lake by loneys if you wanna see eyes and perch. Ive heard theres not much down by the park. Was a fishing derby at the park last year and the fish caught were bruatal.

We have had some reports of perch and eyes at Sand Point.   In front of the park, you get a mixed bag of fish.  We take the kids either to the park or to the causeway... never know what you'll catch, but they seem to be hungry.
Teach your children, but never be afraid to let them teach you

Well got out today with my oldest and a buddy and his 2 girls, well between myself and buddy 4 perch threw one back maybe a pound each. But his daughter had the best of the day with a 42inch 15lb and about 6 inches round jack. Wow was that a pain to get threw a n 8" hole lol. Good day anyway.

Are you using minnows or earth worms for bait?

Hey guys I have kinda a dumb question but since im not sure better safe then sry.  With the warmth that we have had over the last few days +3 +4 is this gonna affect the ice even tho the feels like is -4 -5 is it still safe to be driven on I am taking my wife out next fri on her day off we are looking at -13 to -18 all week this should help out again with the freezing right.  again I know kinda a dumb question but this is my first yr of winter fishing so just want to be safe instead of sry.

My thoughts there is no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to exploring the ice. I'm not familiar with the lake so I can not give u a answer. A lot of people play the monkey see monkey do. I myself am always worried about venturing off onto a lake I don't know much about. For example a buddy and I were fishing Shannon lake by wakaw the other day and a diesel dodge was driving all over the lake. I've fished this lake enough to know there are major springs in this lake where ice well only freeze to 6inches at best. I know not to drive my truck on.  The best and safe advice I can give u is always check the ice yourself before driving on a lake your not sure about. Good luck and be safe.

thanks for the advice Daustman, maybe ill go out and drill couple holes and venture off it suppose to be fairly cool ovefr the week im sure it will be ok but I wanna play it safe.  It has been a great winter fishing I have had better luck in the last 2 mths then I have had in 3 yrs just on the water lol.

And the shmuks that are popping eyes and tossing back how bout we pop their eyes out and toss them in lol whos with me they may not have killed them but they are suffering in a really crapty way I waouls take it as poaching.

Next time you hear it. Approach them and snap. Or call the CO and report the a holes. This just irks me. If you aren't going to respect the land and it's occupants. Don't buy a license. If you even did to begin with. I hope to run into these types when I'm out. I have no problem dealing with it myself. Rant done...... Poaching friggin idiots.....

I think he caught one without an eye ball. Pretty tough to point the finger at anyone. If there is a positive the perch is still trying to feed which i would not have guessed. Thought they would go belly up missing an eyeball.

It was still around 24 inches last Saturday (30th); I am not heading out until Monday (8th) again so that probably doesn't help you much.  There aren't any heaves around the park so it should still be ok despite the beautiful weather.

Heads up guys!! Was out today and when returning back to shore I passed a large open hole in the ice. It was thin all around it.  It's just west of parkview about 75 yards off shore. Had nothing with me to mark. Looked like a spring under it or something. If anyone is out that way be careful. I'm sure a vehicle could break in.
Everywhere else the ice was decent.

I saw open water on Monday as well right where you say, but I thought it was marked with stakes and string?  I didn't drive by too close so if you went closer than I maybe your report is better.
