Nice meeting you to Al, I hope the kids like the goodies.  How many fish did you guys end up with? Our Command Post right next to the registration booth produced 19 nice Crappies, the smallest was 10 3/4 and the biggest 12 1/2.  2 where 15min. winners ;D, the bite was super light if you didn't set that hook as soon as that tip twitched you missed it, and a lot were missed.

Yea we only landed a handfull of crappie. Had a lot of those lite bites and misses though. We caught a mess of smallmouths that kept us busy. I took a couple fish up for measuring but they weren't in the money. Fish were running big this year. We couldn't hear the announcer from where we were and we really weren't that far away. Wish they could improve on their volume. They announce a door prize winner and only give them a few minutes to claim it. Kind of hard to do if you only hear bits and pieces of what they are saying.  :nono: :nono:

First year that I actually caught something :)... started the morning out tough with an auger malfunction and only had 1 hole to fish from (lost a screw that held the blade on).  wound up doing okay though.  missed largest sucker by a 1/4 inch :(.  all in all had a good time and met a lot of nice folks including a bunch from here.

we had a couple of guys show up near us that were struggling with their gas auger. Took 5 or so minutes for 1 hole and looks like they gave up and someone loaned them one to do the job. That wouldn't have been you was it?

No I was by the south island.  I have a manual crank.  My power one needs work (it got flooded in 2011) and I haven't found time to pull it all apart and do a complete repair of it...probably not fixable anymore now anyway.

Buddy, you guys fell in doo-doo and came out smelling like roses plopping on those fish in that spot  ;D Good job...

I talked to one of the game wardens that were at the derby and he said he's seen a few nice eyes pulled thru the ice but all we have caught so far are dinks. If that's what you are targeting and have a drive to get here you may want to find another place.  >:( >:( :tipup:

I sure thought it was very strange being in the middle of ice central, never caught anything in the middle of the crowd before. Chris and his wife had the wins ;D
