If I could make a suggestion - can someone that is close to the spot fire off a last update on the ice conditions on Friday the 8th by noon ? If the unthinkable happens and the ice is not accessable or safe enough, it would save some people a lot of driving or allow them to know an emergency backup plan.

Prchslyr / tankdelivers / combsey : Are one of you available to take the task of this Friday ice report on this forum ?

RoundlakeNY : My opinion is that you have executive power to choose a suitable backup location that everyone could find rather easily, if the Friday report is negative. There will not be time to ask the forum for feedback on alternate locations - so an executive decision will be required.

RoundlakeNY : For what it's worth, here are some ideas that might be workable as backup locations.

1.) Harris Bay LG. We can hog all the parking on both sides of 9L. The ice usually lasts here longer than anywhere on LG. Downside is the 1 mile pull out to the fishing.

2.) Other LG bays ? Not likely other than Harris if MDB is a no-go, but ears are open.
3.) Loon , Brant, Schroon, Paradox ? Exit # from Northway and best public access directions.

With all that said, I am thinking Positive and expecting the ice to hold up at MDB.

I'm in for whatever everyone wants to do as long as it is safe. Just a suggestion... I think Schroon is a good 2nd choice, we can probably get on at Fowler's behind Stewart's. That's just a suggestion would still like to fish the King.

Buddy said fort Ann beach had 8" today. I would think mdb beach is same. But a definite check is in order. Thursday would be the day to check. If it can't be done I will take the ride up. I think we will be OK. And yes I would say schroon lake as back up but I don't think its gonna be a issue.

I have thursday off, I'll head out on MDB and give a Good check. I'm sure we'll be fine. The warmer days still have fairly cold nights. Last week was almost a foot of ice on MDB

Unfortunately, can't camp over like last year. But, I plan on being there Saturday. I got three packages of hamburger and three of hot dog rolls today. I'll also have a jug of a special adult beverage I discovered from some fishing buddies last weekend. GOOOOOOOOOOD STUFF!

Did sime work installing a hard wood floor off assembly point and drove down by mdb shore looked a little ify but there were a couple groups out there and a ton off assembly

This is the carving that will be going up for the free raffle. You must be present at the time of drawing which will be posted within a day or two. We will be bringing it on the ice, the winner is responsible for the drag off!!! It does come apart for easy transport in your jet sleds. gotta love my wife she thinks of everything haha

I plan on attending the gathering and want to let everyone know that i will be raffling off a free 6inch Eskimo hand augar. Would like to make it kids only so some lucky one can get started in the sport. I have 100 tickets. If you are interested please find me and fill out a ticket. I will be wearing a back tag with my shanty name aj454 I will have on a black carhart jacket with camo wool pants. Any questions pm me. I plan on being there by 9am but i am dragging the wife and the 5 year old grandkid with me and ya know how it is waiting for someone else to get ready

Jake that is absolutely amazing. This is going to be great. And aj we will have a
table setup where the people can enter the Raffles for the bear and the kids can enter for your auger. Then we can do the drawing when we all meet up for some grub. Figure 330 or so. Everything worked out great last year.

Man, that bear is sweet!
I can't wait for this shindig. I'll have my 2 boys (8 and 11) out there with me nice and early. On a fishing day they'll be ready and waiting for me.

Wish I could get them to do the same on a school day. Funny how that works.

They're my blood, that's for sure.
