a little scary that much equipment was "lost"? i know i could forget an item or 2, but gear and a shanty? did you see a hole in the ice near all this stuff?

Sounds like he found it on the road not the ice-maybe someone forgot to put his tailgate up?? Cya...

if you were asking this question two years ago i would say its mine. my buddy strapped mine to his wheeler and we lost my fold up one threw there. that worst part was it was -17 and i had no shanty.

Jigger, you are to be commended for your honesty and integrity in trying to locate the owner. Many would say, hey buddies look at what w[/i]e now have. Great Job and hopefully the owner and his/her equipment will be reunited soon and let's hope they are IS members. Suggestion you can also try the local town's weekly paper, community news, penny saver. Also suggestion contact the local authorities and advise them in case the people have noticed the missing items and contact the local law enforcement.

Reminds me of something that happen to me about 10 years back. I got talking to someone while loading up and left the tailgate down. I took off at the Thruway toll booth in Albany,about 20 miles from the lake I fished. Some guy ran me down and caught me at the Schenectady exit and says I dropped something. Well, I dropped my shanty, rods, minnows,vexilar... everything right in the toll booth lane. He said when I took off everything just slid out and sat right in the lane. I drove back a little under 100 mph and found everything pulled up between 2 lanes, got everything back... didn't even spill the minnows. I was the longest 10 mile ride I have ever taken, wondering what happen to all my stuff. I am forever thankful to that guy, I was in such a panic I didn't even get his name.

an amazing story! proof that despite the horrible news you hear/read/watch, there still are good people out there.
