I checked some local ponds this evening and there is a skim of ice over them and with some temps tonight around 0 and possibly negative temps things are looking good!!!

Sooo surprised with the wind thought it would keep all the lakes open but very happy to hear there starting to freeze up

Hopefully the lows this week make some solid ice. Last season's ice kept me from going out to my hot spots several times.

I think we will be good look at the hourly forcast for the next couple days it will only be above freezing for 3 to 4 hours that is not long enough to hurt the ice already made if you go what the conditions and pay attention to what you are doing

Wind died down all evening and is now -3 out. getting the first layer is the biggest part now I hope we keep it

I'm with you i think we will put on a few inches tonight and tomorrow then i hope we keep it. Maybe the weather man is wrong and we will have fishable ice by the end of the week!

It's looking good right now, I'm showing-2 with a-19 wind chill, checked out a local pond today that had 2 inches, I'm thinking by next weekend we might be in luck!!

There is 2" on a small pond east of Scottsbluff and couldn't bust through another with big rock plan on drilling hole after work

Columbus has ice too!!!! The pond by the hospital is completely iced over with right around an inch... didn't stray too far from shore though

We had about an inch and a half up here I'm praying that we keep building ice and or just keep it till the next little cold snap.

anyone know if we can maintain the ice with highs in the low to mid 40's and lows in the mid teens to low 20's? maintain in the day and build over night ?

We should be able to if the lake is capped and it drops in the lower 20 s at night. The highs in the 40 s should only be for 3 to 4 hours a day at most.

No kidding it will be nice to be able to fish where you want on a lake and not have to have a boat or worry about falling in

That's what I was thinking too, but wasn't sure. Hopefully we get another cold spell soon.

I hope the lows at least re-freeze what we lose during the day. It helps that the ponds around here are all capped.

I walked on water today!!!!!!!!!!

went to check my traps and they were frozen in!!! Had 2" but its a small pond almost completely shaded by trees...but still this was southeast of Lincoln

We had 2 1/2 in of ice up here in chadron this morning but with the temps tomorrow and later this week maybe but i doubt it. I'm just praying we hold on to it till this weekend or next week.

I was going to check the Scottsbluff lagoons again this Friday we had a little over 4.5 Monday but I'm hopeing that the temps only getting above freezing for a couple hours then getting below again may hold it if it looks Good Friday plan on going to smith wma the first time I got on ice last year was December 11th at smith if not I seen in the Wyoming thread around cheyenne curt gowdy a inlet has ice or possibly a longer trip to lake Owen

Just checked columbus hospital pond opened one hole 20 yards from shore and has 3 inches didnt check anywhere else

I wanted to but I was on my way back to work. And I just checked that one spot not sure about the thickness on the rest of the lake I might drill a cpl holes tomorrow to get a better idea. And I will be taking my poles
