Lake Willoughby
« on: Feb 05, 2012, 05:33 PM »
I was wondering how much ice there was at the access area. Its time to catch some ling. I went  last year for the first  time, had a great time. I thought they made excellent chowder.

I'm heading up to Willoughby in two weeks.  Will be staying at a cottage at the north end.  Looking to do some ice fishing.  I'm interested in ice conditions as burbot.  I have always wanted to catch burbot but in the Adirondacks there aren't many places to do this.  Can anyone suggest what depths to look for them?  Dead bait or live? etc?  Thanks!

Dont waste time fishing 50 feet of water! Just stay at 10-25 feet of water!

Your all set anywhere on the north end With a snowmachine or 4 wheeler but wouldnt trust a truck! About 7-8 inches across from access by the gazebo and blueberry point! I like a few more inches before i go down that side with the truck!

That is going to be a difficult recovery in water that deep, can't just dive down with a rope in your teeth and tie off, gonna need to pony up for a diver and a wrecker with lots of cable.

Is there a fine for having that sled in the drink til spring or do they only fine for trucks and cars?

Ah, makes sense. Just a diver needed then, no wrecker. That sled is just as well of on the bottom this winter, no snow to ride it on anyway!  ;D ;D
