marcum showdown troller

Thinking about picking up a troller. Pros? Cons? Does it pick up small panfish jigs well?

Getting ready to buy one as well. Anyone have an idea where to get the best price? Found it at l&m fleet for $180 shipped. Can anyone out there do better than that? Thanks in advance!!!

That's going to be your best price. Also look for the carry case

You talking about the $50 one, or something else? Thanks, Joe

Yes that one. It helps keep everything together and also is like a little docking station for it.

if you are looking for bang for your buck.  go to reeds and buy a x67c.  if you want to run and gun and have something light weight to carry on your neck a troller is a awesome unit.  I have one and love it.  wish it had a zoom.  but i also bought a x67c for the shanty but i will always carry my troller for leaving the shanty and setting up flags and walking around hitting other holes.

Without the docking station, the troller is no more than a searching tool. Set it on the ice if you dare but the transducer is as heavy as the unit and could pull it down the hole. Kinda hard to hold it and use it to fish with.

i set mine on top of a pal with a lid or a tackle box to prop it up.  then i tie my transducer around the handle of the bucket to make sure i dont lose it.  a docking station is on my list of things to get but its not a necessity to enjoy the unit.  like this.  never mind the monster walleye on my hook.  ha ha

Thanks for the info guys. I will be using the troller in tandem with my regular flasher. My plan this year is to drill baby drill. I want to use the troller to locate structure and fish. Once I find what I am looking for, then I will break out the nukes! tight lines...

Looks like a very good choice indeed! :o Anyone tried attaching the unit to your sleeve. Also, how about a float on the ducer?

I bought mine early last year and have loved it ever since.  I built a box for it so it wouldn't fall down the hole and there is room to store the cords and the Vexilar float I use with it.  It marks small jigs just fine.  If it doesn't, it means that the sensitivity is not set right or your batteries need to be replaced (I use the 6 AA's).  This unit has truly brought back the fun to ice fishing for me.

Just ordered a docking station for mine. I have the 5.6 and troller and they do the job.  I use good rechargeable batteries in the troller and never had a day that they went dead.

I got one at the end of last year, also got the pro pack.
I have been able to see a minnow head falling off of the hook at 6 feet and watched it all the way to the bottom at 15 feet.
The screen heater works great even here in Manitoba.
The pack needs something in the bottom to weigh it down, you could get a gel battery to power it and weigh it down, I just use a block of dog wood from Lee Valley and stick with the AA batteries.

They are great love watching the  fish come right off the bottom ........Just when you think there is  nothing there  then a giant line that starts off the bottom after your jig and  you just smile cause it looks like there is going to be a SHOWDOWN !!!!!!!!

I will live my life with the cards i have been dealt. When that final day comes that I'm to weak to grin. I will push the dealer all my chips  cause its all or nothing and I'm all in ...

i noticed on mine they can be a lil tricky on bottom the bottom gains a pixel with no gap and you notice it.  bang bottom once or twice and it comes up a lil bit.  even though i got a x67 this year i will be using my troller to set flags and to leave the shanty and bang some holes around the area.

By this time I'm thinking I will definitely get the performance pack from Santa Claus as my neck is ready for a chiropractor.  Seem to like this thing though.  Thanks again for your help.

Bought one two days ago due to not having a lot of money and it seemed like a good decision and I love it. I bought both the troller and performance pack and I'm really glad I did.

Pretty cool watching those trout come up and nail your lure aye ?  ;D Having the performance pack is well worth the 49 bucks ! I cut a piece of 1" foam and put it under the battery box inside the bag, it helps to protect the battery and make it last longer !!
