great topic. And some of you have great stories behind your names. Wish i was a little more creative. I guess its the maddness that is going on when u have a huge northern on the other end of your tip-up that gave me my name. Nothing beats the emotion of holding that monster you just caught

Fished and hunted all my life, never wanted to go home.  Stayed in homemade lean to's, tents, homemade campers, back of pickups in sleeping bags, always sleeping under the stars, when hunting or fishing and my friends called me a hobo.  My 1st. homemade camper, was called the Hobo Hilton, and it looked like that, but I didn't care.  Because it was used for hunting and fishing with the guys.

In honor of my Prussian German roots and in addition to being a German Citizen as well who loves to hunt, Jager = (Hunter in German) and 61 was the year of my birth!  I don't have an international keyboard on my laptop or else I would have added the umlaut (") over the letter "a".

Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles!!

Mine really has nothing to do with fishing.  I used it for a fire department type forum a while ago and have used it on a number of different fishing / hunting forums since simply because I don't want to try and remember too many different names and passwords.

I was a volunteer firefighter/ EMT for 11 years and worked as an EMT for 7 of them, then went back to school for my RN and now work as a nurse in a Syracuse Intensive care unit.

So if you use the "t" twice   its ( EMT to RN ) emtorn

Numinous = the intense feeling of unknowingly knowing that there is something which cannot be seen. Ya gotta have that to be a fisherman.

My Handle is Potatomansoup

When I was in HS, I was sitting around with friends complaining about my girlfriend's PMS (turns out she was just b***hy)
anway one of my friends had never heard of PMS before so we spent a night making up different things it could mean, I thought this was the funniest and when I had to pick an internet name I chose this so I didn't have to be CLAY377 or something... and I like it

You might think im an avid basketball fan, judging by my "handle".  In truth, I cant stand basketball.  Brian Baulsir is my name, so bballs comes naturally.  It was my 4th selection when is signed up to iceshanty.  The first three were a little more graphic, with a last name like Baulsir, its hard to keep it clean.

Husky= UConn graduate and HUGE fan of the Basketball team

Bass= What I chase during the open water seasons.

I'd rather be "Jigging Nomad" on this site, but I have been "Huskybass" online since 1998 or so.  Fortunately, the adminisrators just changed the name for me.

Jigging Nomad simply means I cover lots of holes looking for active fish, and I am too lazy to ever set any tip ups.  ;D

Windknots- If any of you are flyfishermen or women, you'll know that the amount of line above your head at any one point in time can succumb to the dreaded windknot.

A tiny small knot in your tippet that will wreak havoc with line strength.  They usually occur when I screw up!

Contrary to popular belief, I am not a big Johnnie Cash fan (I don't mind him though).
For years, my entire ice fishing outfit used to be all black or dark navy.  Now, I fish in camo gear, and the only thing left that I wear that is black is a black Sabres or Bills cap cap and my gloves (which I seldom wear when fishing).

So if you are fishing in the Rochester area and see a 6'5" man wearing camo with a black cap, that's me!
