has anybody checked any local lakes,upton,stissing?

I have not been out to check yet - I would have to believe that Upton will be fishable on the edges very soon - just be very wary of the springs and dont get out too far til ur sure it's safe. Whate pond I'm tols has some open water, but as shallow as it is - Ill bet its fishable now too. I have fished both with open water not too far from me - just be cautious

up on top of the mountain in esopus. always get good pickerel action. flag after flag after flag.

Here you go! My first trip of the year, I ended up with 2 largemouths, 4 pickerel and 1 crappie and missed atleast 6 fish. 5" of white/black ice (never seen that before). Heres a few pics, enjoy!

Morgan lake has 3 inches over most of it. The geese still have a good sized patch of open water. the rest is walkable.

heard from a friend that Silver lake has 6" in some parts. Plan to go there on sunday.

OK - so the season has officially begun! Upton has about 5" in most areas - the most beautiful clear black ice! Yup, took one step out on it yesterday and WHAM! landed right on my shoulder! LOL spent a few hours out there today - lots of flags all over the place. I landed 1 bass, 1 bow and about 8 pickerel...guys next to me had about 15 trout in the same time.....all and all a beautiful day - even if I am stiff and sore now! tight lines to all - Be Safe

the bass went back in the water unharmed. it looks like ice on his face, he was covered in snow from when i landed him, so i dipped him back in the hole quick to get most of the snow off for the picture. Thanks for keeping me in check though

yes, clinton corners. I took a ride to the reservoirs in putnam county on thursday. West Branch reservoir near
nichols road had some ice but didn't look safe. Boyds water leves were very low and no safe ice

I had heard that silver lake was private, but the sportsman's federation had purchased some property along its shore for access, and the locals were blocking access to the lake. Has this issue been resolved?
