Me and a couple buddies decided that we were going to build a hard side shanty so we started on it last night. This gonna be one big SOB 8x8!

We got the base done last night and were planning on getting the studs for the walls done tonight so ill post some pictures later or tomorrow.

Another friend of mine has a 4 place flat bed snowmobile trailer so we plan on using that to move it.

This is Were thinking that we dont want to use plywood for the walls now because this thing would weigh a TON literally! Were gonna go back to menards tonight and see what we can come up with that would be lighter.

What about using that 1" 4X8 styrofoam sheets reinfocing it with cheap paneiling on the outside? Great insulation and the stuff is pretty tough if you don't beat on it too bad. Could even put up some 1X3 cross members on the inside to attach "stuff" to (hooks,fold down shelves,etc.) Just a thought...AND IT'S PINK!

I built one like that for the lake I live on CP

The thing was such a pain in the arss to move it now holds duck decoys and life jackets

I assume you are going to move it outside before attaching the walls? That third picture looks like it may be a problem to get out the garage door if you don't!! It may just be the angle of the picture.

BTW, looking good so far. Someday... just not enough ice where I currently live to justify a permy.

I see all safety percaussions are being taken!! Safety glasses and B.L., Now is the B.L. being used to "numb the pain to any injuries" or an to keep any wounds clean of infection? How are you gonna move it once you get to the ice?

Were asebleing the studs for the walls inside just because its warmer. The tallest wall will be the one behind where were sitting in the picture its goingt to be 6 foot and then the wall in front of us is going to be 5 foot. The roof is going to be slanted. Where we are sitting in the picture is going to be a bench type storage area with a flip top lid. We will be asembleing it outside....

Once this baby gets to a lake were going to have a buddy with a quad move it.

The BL does definetly numb the cold! but so far there hasnt been any injuries supriseingly!!!

I tried to keep mine as light as possible also. I chose to use luan for the sides instead of plywood. I'm not sure how durable it will be but I painted it on both sides to prevent delamination.
Yours is looking good so far... How are planning to attach the skis?

I think you should go bigger and put some bunks in their for overnight fishing, i always thought it would be a blast to do that.

Brooks we are going to use luan for the siding settled on it this afternoon before I even saw this. Should cut down on a lot of the weight but its still going to heavier then $%^%.
