first and foremost, welcome to the shanty! secondly.....that's one hell of a 1st post, and one hell of a fish. that fish would have easily been the new state record if it had been weighed right after you squeezed her through the hole. either way, one hell of a fish!

Was going to say have a wood replica of the fish made but you would need a TREE! What a hog. That fish will be a memory for a very long time. Nice to know we have some fish like that in the state!!

Thanks everyone again! The fish was caught through a 10" hole and no chiseling was involved. My beagle is my mascot and he goes everywhere I go. The bait size and how I caught it remains a closely guarded secret.

It took a little over a half an hour to land him and as far as I am concerned it weighed in at 31lbs officially. The scale at Indian Hill was certified for the State Derby and it maxed out at 30 and said it was over capacity with many people to back me up on that. It was at least 31lbs in Rockwood with at least 6 witnesses. Why does everyone recognize the fish as being the lightest weight it was weighed in at? This is a big deal for the Moosehead Lake area and a potential boost for local businesses and I think the fish should be worthy of at least being recognized for what it was. A man shouldn't have to drive 60 miles to get a potential state record weighed on a scale at a meat market. Granted I waited 3 1/2 hours to come off the ice but does anyone else see my frustration?

Bill - the only thing I'd say about the weight of that fish when people see it hanging on the wall is that it was 31 and change.....forget what the State tells you the "certified" it at. Kinda of adds to the whole mystique of the fish that way and its certainly no fish story because it was.....hell, maybe it was even 32, the world will never know

As the Post before me states enjoy your catch and who really cares if the weight is off you know the TRUE weight and thats all that matters !!!!!anyone who sees this fish once done hanging on your wall wont argue a bit and if you say its 32 pounds Ill go with you on that @ this point who can believe anything the state says anyway ?? Keep smiling and fishing ....Ahhhh one other thing remember a good fish story is always streched,or imbelished a little!!!....so how much did it weigh
