I'll be there with a friend of mine, We're getting there in the morning,and fishing throughout the day.
I wish we could stay for the night bite

But have prior commitments. Looking forward to meeting up
with all of you!!!

Finally....... formally checking in. This will be a first for many. First shanty Gull outing, first time to gull, and first time smelt fishing. Will bring quad if its safe and also my dad and step son will be with me. Got a hotel room for my mom and wife ao I am good to go. Have not posted mush this season due to being busiy but I look forward to meeting some of you and fishing.

10-4 junkie!! I'll go to Gander mountain tomarrow and pick ya up a smelt rig!!!!! Idk what time i'll be there... Whenever the hell it works i guess. 2-3 im thinking of bein there. I told RC that if i win the Michigan lotto $171 million that i'll show up to Gull with a trailer load of Yamaha grizzly's all equipped with 4WD, icegator augers, and a brand new Yukon and give em all away to ya guys!!!!! I plan on gettin there about noon or 1. Got my sister in law comin to watch the kids, and I can't hang around the house long in the morining with her sorry butt. They make a smelt rig? I looked around at my baitshop today for smelting crap and found nothing. This is more of a walleye area i guess.

i can finally say I AM IN FOR SURE!!!!! after dealing with a bunch of my wussy a** friends who all backed out i finally talked my old man into coming out of retirement. he hasnt ice fished in about 10 years and is telling me how he does not believe anyone would waste there time catching smelt on a pole when he used to dip net them.

Just rigged up all my poles with 1lb. test(first time ever for that). It's like trying to tie hair.

Guess all I need is the 6" hand auger huh, not gonna waste my time bringing the gas auger. Just gotta pick up some spikes and a couple things for the drawings in the morning and I am ready to roll!!!

Fished from 3 to 10. Drove out to about the middle of the lake.....caught a bunch of dink perch to start it off. Then had a flurry around 4:30 and caught 15 smelt down on the bottm in 70 fow mixed in with the perch. Even had a perch smelt double, lol. Put the light down at dark and about left to try another spot becuase I was hardly marking anything thought they left. Then they came in and I ended up with 47 smelt and 6 small perch that I keep out of 30 or so, bight was real light but left them biting. Bad luck seems to be over....did not break anything. Worst part was spilling a barley pop, lol. See ya tomorrow!

Very nice!!! Good to hear! You still have 30 mins. left in the day to run into a door or cut yourself with your fillet knife while claening those fish!

I'll be using safety scissors and wearing metal mesh gloves......Oh yea the locks did freeze on my topper.....had to haul the shanty on the open trailer....suprised it did not blow off lol
