I could go tomorrow morning or friday afternoon if you dont mind showing me the ropes... im an avid fisherman, just not familiar with lakes and species.. anyone know a good spot for minnows going north on either 38 or 10 from kingston?

Try North Frontenac Bait and Tackle in Sharbot Lake on 38.  phone 613 279 3733.  I stopped in this weekend and he is a pretty nice guy, lives right on property so if the car is in the driveway, he's open.

CT is a last resort, I find thier minnows die quick and it seriously takes the guy about 25 minutes to round up a dozen.  Try catchall bait (Mark's bait) in battersea.  $4.50 for muds, last a long time...very lively.

BTW, Rock = Verona (the little lake in Verona on Water street)

Upper rock is another lake altogether.

welcome to the shanty icejunkie33.  Were there really 32 other icejunkies?  ;D  You might end up getting called "33" around this board.

Thanks for the ice report...when were you on 4th on sunday?   I was out there from 7am-2pm...didn't see too many others out there.  You catch anything?

So I set the hut up, and had a great time.  We got a dozen perch, kept 9, and threw one away at home.  THey were kind of wormy...but cleaned up good.

Friggin Geez!  I guess I will be heading out to block up the hut today before it freezes in.  Maybe I should move up north, this isn't winter it's a nuisance!

Hard to count on normal winter weather the past 5 years!  It's not even cold out!  Maybe in a few years we will actually start thinking about moving north, this 3 season BS sucks, I want 4 seasons!  There is no point to owning a snowmachine around here anymore...

Ya, although I wouldn't mind open water fishing all year round I must admit...the ice is fun but I love the boat! :)

Yeah, but up north you can do both.  Here we are starting ice fishing early Jan, and done early March...then waiting for warm weather to start.  It's a waste of a season.

With that wind last night maybe you should have let it freeze in!

I ended up staying in last night...now I am wondering if the hut is still there!  Shux, I will have to go out after work to check it out...maybe I will have to drop a line to make sure everything is working ok  ;)
