Argo question
« on: Jan 07, 2009, 05:23 PM »
Hi All,

Sunday at Glendo, I talked to a fellow ice fisherman who was driving an Argo.  Over on the Nebraska forum, there is some discussion about an Argo being able to drive from the ice into the water and back onto the ice - Maybe someone here can offer some personal experience or has observed an Argo go from the water back onto the ice.  Argo looks to be a really neat ice fishing vehicle.  Thanks for the help.

Good fishing and be safe out there.

Keith

If that's the 2 man gizmo that looks like a boat with small wheels, there's several videos of them doing that youtube, I pulled em up by entering "4 wheelers through ice".  :woot: LT

My older brother had one for five or six years. He loved it when it was working. Kind of a high maintenance machine. His was an off brand called the Max or something like that (quite a bit cheaper than the Argo). It was handy on thin ice cause it would float if it broke through. It had a set of tracks that he would put on in the fall and use it all winter. It was great for hauling bear baits in the spring.

They steer via a hydrostatic drive, something like a crawler. It has a short lifespan and when it breaks hold on to your wallet.
