If it was a rock bass or mud sock(even uglier), a good practice is to throw it buddies pile!!!!!

My g-pa used to call them mud bass...looked like a rock bass to me...do anal fins develop as they mature?  I used to catch those in the canals near crescent beach in Boji as a kid...they were always small and pesky....

My guess would be a sick looking rock bass. Do they change to this light color in the winter months?  I don't think I've caught them in the winter.

It isnt a rock bass or a warmouth because as stated prior the fish in question doesnt have red eyes.  It isnt a rock bass since the anal fin doesnt have 6 spiny rays and with the picture it looks like it only has two.  Judging by the picture i would say that it is a green sunfish that doesnt have a lot of coloration to it.  Generally you will see a white or yellow order on the gill flap and on the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins.

Warmouth

100% not a warmouth. Warmouth have red eyes and dont have the horizontal pattern seen here.

I don't think the green sunfish would have a mouth as big as that, though.  I also think the fin pattern goes against the green sunfish more & fits the rock bass or warmouth more.  Another thought.  If the color pattern is changed, who's to say the pigment/coloration of the eye wouldn't change as well.
