Beads for bass. But Broodstock Salmon?
« on: Dec 12, 2008, 03:44 PM »
Looking for opinions.

Theres a lot of information about using beads on your tipups, which I do and believe it works for Bass/perch/pickerel just fine.

Does anyone have any experience with beads and Salmon...They stock the lakes up here in Mass with broodstock salmon and I plan to target them early in the season this year...wondering if a similar rig (the use of beads) is worth while here?

I dont know about beads alone but on 2-3 of my tip ups I use a clevis and spinner with a bobber stop about 4" above the hook.  those seem to outfish the other ones with nothing on them  so this year I will put the spinner blades on all of the tip ups.  Oh and the 2-3 I use for salmon go about a foot under the ice and I shorten the spinner distance to the hook so it is almost touching.  still havent caught one though.
