There are several smelt camps along the coast the rent if your interested in smelting. I do not know of any rentals on any of the lakes. Plenty of places to buy a portable on your way up here. Like Kittery Trading Post, Cabelas, Beans, and Dicks.

Most of them are in the Moosehead region. There are some at East Grand. But that's a start.

there is also a place in millinocket that rents shacks. They have shacks on many lakes including chesuncook, and chamberlain. I remember seeing the advertisment in either the northeast sporting journal and or the maine sportsman last year. I can't remember the name of the place though but I think they had  a website. I am sure with a little searching you could find it.

Winter time bait and fence company on RT 27 in belgrade rents shacks on great pond if your interested. Pike,  brown trout, 8) perch and bass.
