are these actual flies like a fly fisherman would tye and use on open water? anyone have any good pics of them? or sights to get supplies to make them?

I went and bought some nymphs and 2lb flourocarbon this weekend. I have been having trouble getting some overpressured fish to bite. Its sightfishing so weight is not an issue. I looked at the ice flies and felt there were better patterns and better quality. You should look at the selection Cabelas has. wow

Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

I tie my ice flies on small jigheads - 1/32 and smaller.
Some of them I tie on plain hooks with lead or copper
wire added for weight. I use pretty much the same
patterns as for summer. No dry flies though

Yeah Ottawa the sales guy was trying to sell me Coachmans ans stuff. I was like ummm, I would have to use a sinker with those.

Here is a fly I used this past week with pretty decent success...
It is basically an ant pattern tied in an olive color...
I used it as a dropper about 1' up from a wax worm tipped spoon...
It worked pretty good for bluegill...
