REVOLUTIONARY NEW SPINNING REEL!
« on: Nov 14, 2008, 12:32 PM »
Has anyone here tried the fantastic new spinning reel invented by Doug Hannon, The Bass Professor yet? Doug Hannon is from Canada and has spent the greater portion of his life as a Canadian Fishing guide. What Doug has done, more or less, is that he has invented a "better mouse-trap", in a manner of speaking. Not being satisfied with any of the reel's available on the market today, Doug set himself the difficult task of inventing one that is superior to all other spinning reel's on the market today. And boy-o-boy, has he ever succeded with the creation of the new "Wave Spin" spinning reel's! Anyone that has seen one of these reel's will remember them as the one with the serrated edge on the reel spool. This feature allow's you to make unbelievably longer cast's. The feature I like the best though is that you can just remove the front of the spool and remove the old line all in one bunch! You no longer have to go through the tedious chore of "stripping" all the line off! Now is that great or what? After I got my first Wave Spin, I decided right then and there that I was going to replace all my spinning reel's with Wave Spin's! Yes, rhey really are that good! No, I do not work for Wave Spin reel's, but I sure as heck wish I did. I'm so sold on them that I'm ready to start stopping stranger's on the street, just to tell them about Wave Spin reel's. Hence the reason for writing this posting. It wouldn't be a bad idea as a Christmas gift for the fishermen on your gift list as well. Well I just put a hammerlock on myself so I won't keep rattling on. Otherwise I might never shut up! For anybody that would like to check out Doug's website, here's the link:   http://www.wavespinreel.com/  Tight line's and wet net's to all! ;D DIRTBALL2 ;)

I have yet to get a birdsnest on any spinning reel. On my baitcaster... well that's another story. :D But I think I'll stick to what I've been using.

I'd have to hold one in my hands, see it and "play with it" before shelling out the cash.  Needs to "prove" itself.

good looking reel, but i will stick with my quantum energy's
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

Probably a gimmick. Just maintain your line once in awhile and you should be fine with most reels.i think a quality rod is more important for most applications.

If that dude has caught 800 bass over 10lbs he likely hasn't fished in Canada all that much.  You likely won't find a bass over 10lbs up here...

can't remember what show it was but they did a comparison with this reel and found no improvements what so ever. Bottom line was "gimmick"

Looks like a Newbie trap. I'll stick with my Quantums, heck I'd rather stick with my cheap Mitchells than waste my money on that. I'd like to see him pull out 10 lb bass out of the chain here.lol During summer. :cookoo:

From Tackle Tour
Ratings (We've re-calibrated our ratings standard for 2008 and have included a key at the bottom of the following matrix as a guide):
WaveSpin DH3000 Spinning Reel Ratings (?/10)

Construction/Quality   On par with what we'd expect in this price range   5
Performance   Better than expected   6
Price   Tough to beat   8
Features   The two-piece spool is a great convenience   7
Design (Ergonomics)   Once you get over the spool's lip, very appealing   7
Application   Solid reel for its intended purpose   7
Total Score

6.67
Ratings Key: 1 = terrible : 2 = poor : 3 = lacking : 4 = sub par : 5 = mediocre : 6 = fair : 7 = good : 8 = great : 9 = excellent : 10 = unbelievable!

Pluses and Minuses:
                 Plus                                                             Minus

J Very good value                                             L A couple too many plastic parts
J Nice feeling retrieve                                             L Undersized drag washers
J Comfortable, oversized knob
J Casting performance is good
J Two-piece spool allows quick line changes
 "

Not a resounding endorsement. But for the money they say not bad. Still I believe a lot better reels out there for the money

Didn't know Disney had guided fishing excursions. *picture comes to mind of the Goofy character trying to teach a kid to fish*

They didn't get very good reviews from customers on the Cabela's web site.
