1'st report, my prediction.
« on: Nov 13, 2008, 06:09 PM »
Blaine, Saxi, and maybe Mike G. December 4'th (a Thursday), or Monday the 8'th.

And if the gods are kind, i'd like to post a report on the 20'th or 21'st.  :icefish:

Very optimistic! I personally am a pessimist so I'll say January 4th, any of the Madison or Chenango County waters. I'll either be right or if earlier, very pleasantly surprised!

Yeah, i'm being a little optimistic bart, but not a whole lot really. Last year "the rest of us" were ice fishing on December 22. Even though it turned out to be a cruddy season for us. And the previously mentioned trio are notorious for 1'st ice reports.

In the 6 seasons i've been ice fishing (2002) i can say for sure i've found safe ice with friends before X-mas 3 times (i got pics!). And i can only fish on weekends, with rare exceptions. Some seasons it's only a few inches of ice, others as much as 8. I've even met up with friends on New Years morning to get in the 1'st reports of the year.  ;D

Maybe the NW hills of CT do a little better for early ice than other parts of New England (i'll google earth your county)? Our last 2 seasons have sucked overall, here's hoping for "numbingly cold and snowy". 2 days of 60 degree weather coming, then it's supposed to get a little more serious.

Hi guys,
Let's all hope for a fast freeze up this year.
Last 2 seasons it got cold over a long period without freezing and that caused the fish to go into an early stuper and that's why the bite was slow and lousy.
Need that fast freeze up to have a good 1st ice period.
Best of luck this season.

I didn't get to fish till after christmas due to work. But I was walking on ice the sunday after Thanksgiving, I got about 10 feet out before common sense kicked in and I decided to give it up before I went for a swim.

I'm with Brian on this one. Those north west hills are always the place to be for a quick start before the Chrismas rush sets in. And with lower gas prices going north won't be bad. A lot of tourny's got canceled last year because of lowsy conditions. Hears to a new year.  ;D

Hi guys!
Well its getting cold up here in the NW hills.
A little skim ice starting to form on the quiet back waters.
Still too much wind for the bigger waters.
Need a few days with little or no wind to let the ice start forming.
Dam!!!!! That hardwater itch is driving me crazy!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
