Crappie Anyone Today?
« on: Mar 24, 2008, 10:39 AM »
Will be at Pleasant Pond around three if anyone wants to try some crappie fishin.  Park on thorofare rd bridge and head north a bit.  I have a beige tacoma and red arctic cat quad.  No guarantees but they have been hitting good.

If I do its with very small minnows.  But usually don't!

Well, hermon pond produced a dozen keepers and a couple largemouths.  The ol' man outfished me again, for 80 he likes to jig and scares the hell out of me sometimes- as far as glare ice goes.... small shiners worked lindy.

Welcome to the Shanty Crappy happy...
I fished there 2 weeks ago....I could keep my jig in the water...Crappie after crappie...
I fished near the green shack next to the race track.....I thought about drilling a hole right in the middle when the race sled kept going back and forth..
I have a buddy that lives just up the street from there...I told him that if I was right here and had this many crappie I'd be fishing it every night...

Maine Guide 39 took me to one of his secret spots today. He won,t let me catch very many. What do you do with a guide like that.

BEE is being BAD! to me.
He's slowly creeping his way up to try to steal away the title of "crappie king" from another veteran that gave us an earful of information tonight. That guy is VERY well versed on  where the crappie &  big perch hang out and is a master at catching them. He carries the following gear with him; A pail, a $1.00 smelt jig pole and a 6" hand auger and a special lure and bait in his pocket!! He walks everywhere he goes. His son caught a new state record crappie this year and I guess it would have weighed even more than it did if he hadn't left it in the freezer for a week before he had it verified. I think he said it weighed 3.6
