Conditions north of lake placid?
« on: Feb 18, 2008, 01:13 PM »
I am planning a trip up north and was wondering what the ice conditions are. Lots of snow or slushy? Should i bring the snow shoes or not?

Thanks for any input.

I was on Follensby Clear this afternoon.  We had a thaw last night so conditions are wet with about 2 or 3 inches of slush.  It started getting a little colder this afternoon and started to tighten up in a few spots, but still mostly slushy.  Much better conditions today, than yesterday!  You won't need snowshoes on the ice, but you may need them to get to the ice, depending on where you are planning to fish.  We have a lot of snow in the woods.
