« on: Feb 12, 2008, 10:19 AM »
i have been looking at some new boots for fishing this year. ive had my old ones for a few years and they are cracking now. anyone know what rubber boots are the best quality and longest lasting. any sales or good buys around the syracuse area? thanks

I use Muck Boots for hunting and fishing.  I've never worn a more comfortable pair of boots.  They're not rubber, but it's the same style.  No laces to freeze or anything like that.  I recommend Muck Boots to anybody that asks.

There's a thread under "dressing for ice fishing" called Paks vs. insulated boots.  It should answer any question you have about what to buy.

I wear Lacrosse rubber boots ice fishing and i love them. They are nothing special i think about 60$ from the local army-navy. I have yet to have my feet get cold in them. Im a surveyor so i wear them all winter and have yet to have a problem. I tore them on some barbed wire a few weeks ago and put some epoxy on them and there still going strong. Just my .02$

Ditto - I have had mine for 5 years and they still feel new. I wear them deer hunting and ice fishing. Tall enough to cross streams without worrying about getting wet when deer hunting. Good traction. My feet will sweat in mild weather but never got cold.  Will never have another type of boot for hunting or ice fishing.  I don't think they are that heavy.

I have some Cabela's brand rubber boots with 2K grams of thinsulate.  They are warm- up to the ankle then nothing for insulation.  I use them sometimes, but not the ideal boot.

I gotta go with the majority, I love my LaCrosse AlphaBurly!

Never had a cold toe in all the years I have been wearing them. Great fit around the ankle so they don't slide and bunch up your sock and 100% waterproof for early slushy season hunting or when the temps start to warm on the ice and everyone else is sloshing in ankle deep water. Plus after a long day on the ice or in the woods who wants to fumble with laces, especially when wet or frozen. Plus easy to slip on to go out to shovel. gotta love multi purpose boots!
