Actually, I'd say it's WDSV, Yelah (Walleye Dermal Sarcoma Virus). It isn't harmful to humans, however care must be taken to properly cook fish (sushi isn't a good idea ) ... also another reason not to throw remains or entrails of infected fish back into the lake... the virus is spread from infected individuals in this way. They will eventually subside or disappear entirely in infected fish... we call 'em "walleye warts" .
I wouldn't eat it. I'd throw it up on the bank.
that portion of the fish tissue can be removed and discarded, unless you really want to gross out your fishing buddies !!!
I have eaten allot of walleyes with those growths I have one growing on my neck just kidding they are OK to eat
