What do you do in the off season
« on: Feb 05, 2008, 11:21 PM »
Just wondering what everyone does after the ice is gone. I know I dont get to fish to much in the summer because of work. I try to take my jeep mud bogging as much as I can. So lets hear what you do.

Fly fish for pannies and smallies, tie my own flies, carve decoys, eliminate varmints, reload shotgun and rifle, hunt waterfowl and deer as well. Basically bored most of the time.  ;)

Spring spawn crappies, turkey hunting and morels in the spring, followed by the catfish spawn and drifting from late may-august.  Then get my bow, smoke pole and rifle ready for deer season.  And by the time that is coming to a close I should be "Walkin On Water" once again!

Last ice perch, actually drive the boat up onto the ice hop out and drill holes or cast off the ice into open water, Detroit river! Hunt Morels, then start pull'n boards for walleye till Oct., hunt deer, next thing you know it's croppie time threw the hard stuff again.
God created bass for those who can not catch walleye.

Well I dig the shotguns back out, hunt turkey, go on pheasant shoots, shoot sporting clays, and then chase waterfowl til the ice forms or close to it.

Fish softwater on local lakes for bass, pike, walleye, and maybe some panfish in the spring. But my favorite softwater pastime is chasin' walleye on Saginaw Bay and occasionally Lake Erie.

Heck now that I'm retired I don't know how I ever found time to work!  ::)  ;D ;D

I work as a chef for a golf country club and it keeps me busy along with my family but I do find time to river walk, pond hop for bass and make occasional trips to Erie for eyes.

Go turkey and deer hunting. Fish more in the early spring before all the boaters and recreational people get out in the sumer and make it impossible to fish. Go camping.

Team M.I.R.C Rock bass. It's whats for dinner.
