What's your favorite cook stove on the ice???
« on: Feb 05, 2008, 08:32 AM »
Looking to buy a new one.  I have the Coleman Powerhouse that runs on a can of propane.  Looking for something that can block the wind somewhat as well.

we use a coleman stove also, the key is to set up a wind break so the wind is not an issue, get 4 poles drill into the ice, and tie wrap the tarp to the poles, works great..

we were on bartons saturday with some serious wind...and the coleman with can was fine, just set it up facing the right direction...both Keith and I were able to simmer without a hitch....K

Guess the hands down favorite is the Coleman.  Just thought their might have been something better.  Thanks.

Coleman without a doubt.

Not sure they have the Powerhouse as a propane stove, I think it is only liquid fuels.

If it's for ice fishing, I would go with the coleman fuel versions (or dual fuel).  As a group, we usually bring out two coleman stoves on long days, one with propane canisters and one with coleman fuel and on colder days, we have a hard time generating enough heat quickly with the propane coleman stove, but as we've never had a problem with the coleman fuel versions.  Just my 2 cents.

I don't have a coleman I have a knockoff can't remember the name ???  All stainless steel with lighting system built in, blocks the wind like a coleman and cooks just as well. I have tried the small single burners with fuel and this blows them away. Just check Walmart or Dicks camping section also Bass Pro they have a great stove selection as well.
