Any luck at Minatare?
« on: Feb 01, 2008, 05:23 PM »
I've been out there twice and haven't had as much as a nibble. Same for the folks I've talked to, nothing.
Tried wax worms and jigs.

A friend was out at Minatare last Saturday and Sunday  January 26-27 fished six different places around the lake for one catfish.    >:(

Went out again this weekend and still nothing. I tried waxworms, jigs and crawlers. Even put a bit of old bratwurst on a hook. Fishing in 15-20 ft of water near the lighthouse and to the north of it.

I'm not going to give up!! They're there somewhere!!

Yeah, I talked to a guy who said it was pretty good there. He said that the west ends of the pits might not have much ice because that's where the water comes into them.

I tried one of the sand pits in Bridgeport today. The ice looked iffy to me, so I didn't go out on it, but I did open water fish and caught nothing. Although I did see a few, what I believe to be trout, a few feet from the shore.

But the dogs had a good time!!!

A friend and I went to Minatare on Friday the 15th.  Down by the dam we caught two crappie and six bluegill on wax worms.  Tried minnows with tip-ups but never had a nibble.  Real nice day and no wind.   ;D

How is the ice holding up over there?
Also, how is the fishing been?
