HOVERCRAFT for hauling heavy gear
« on: Jan 20, 2008, 04:56 PM »
Lugging all my gear is very difficult when bringing the shanty and all other essentials and no motorized vehicle to pull it with. So I had plans to fit my sled w blade runners but foresaw problems w crust layers on ice.... So I lay in bed one night unable to sleep thinking about ice fishing, and this is what I came up with ( a little schematic assist from Internet.) Probably about 250 # equipment in video...here it is...Snot Rocket

maiden voyage of the hover craft went well overall, i cut too many holes in the bottom, therefore too much weight posed a slight problem, but when i lightened the load to say 125-150# thing worked great, my rubberized tarp is already showing signs of wear so i am going to look for something like a super sized innertube or a material similar to that. and im still working on a way to use my shop vac with a power inverter.
Next phase is to manufacture a flip over shelter right onto the craft using PVC and poly tarp. i will then lay a 1/4 '' sheet plywood on top of craft and cut holes into it to accomodate my buckets and such...it will be better , stronger , and faster than before, just lkie the 6 million dollar man.

nice job, but I would like to see this after a couple years of production before I buy one. Keep up the good work                                                                                                                                                                             winni bound

Great idea  but it makes too much noise.  Fellow ffisherman   wouldnt be too happy when you walked up on them  making   all that noise.  Need to try to quiet it down.
When in doubt  Spud your way out !!!!

I don't think the noise will bother other fisherman at all. It isn't any louder than my auger and I think they will be too fasinated with it to care about the noise. Where did you find the schematic to build it?

i did alot of research on line, watched a ton of videos on you tube and went from there. it definitley needs some tweaking , and i agree on the noise...no louder than an auger or a snowmobile or quad buzzing the lakes these days.

that's pretty cool. hope you have a patent on it. as for the noise, I also think folks will be more interested in the design and it shouldnt be a problem.
