lake orion is sitting at 7 degrees!  and dropping quick.  it was 12 degrees a couple hours ago.  lost 5 degrees in two hours.  they say it's going down to 3 tonight, i think will hit 0 or below tonight!  love these cold temps, but heat bill will be bad next month!

Feb 2 you should be O.K. Parking could be an issue though, I doubt there will be a parking lot on the ice by then. I have a feeling this could be the craziest year there yet ,as far as amounts of fishermen because of all the publicity the lake has recieved in the magazines and such.

Yeah, I  agree with you on that one. Also the fact that it hasn't froze up yet this year. We plan on fishing Higgins Friday night and then get back around the Harrison area and fish the lakes around my buddies cabin. Might head over to Lake Margarethe though for some walleye fishing.

hows the walleye fishing at lake margarethe?  always wanted to fish it, just wondering if it's worth the drive.

The last time I've ice fished that lake was about 10 or more years ago when my Grandfather had a cabin off of the lake. I remember me and my dad trudging through a foot of snow about fifty yards out in front of my grandpas cabin and drilling two holes for a shanty with a dull auger through about 2 feet of ice. So where we fished, was WHERE we fished. It ended up to be about 8 FOW and sand bottom and I remember I caught about a 26" and later that evening my dad caught a 24". Another time I trolled in a canoe with Hot n Tot's with my brother during the summer and caught 3 walleye within an hour. The point I am trying to make is that both times we fished for walleye without having any idea of what we were doing, we successfully caught fish.

Its -7 with a windchill of -21 here in Marquette. Sounds like everyone in the LP without safe ice should be fishing really soon.

it got down too -2.7 degrees at 6:50 a.m.  should have picked up a couple inches overnight.  i am going to brave the cold today, and try to get out to catch those crappie.  it's 9 degrees rightnow, probably going to get out around 3:00 and stay just after dark.  it's going to be a cold one, hopefully my lake is safe?
