Caught this gil the other day and it looked like someone cut a V out of it.Probably hit by a boat prop or chomped by another fish at some point.

most likely a boat did that one. the way that V is shaped i doubt it could be a fish. suprised it lived though. you would think something like that would get eating right up

looks like it might have even been picked off by a heron or cormarant when it was smaller and lived to tell about it.

ive caught crappie with walleye marks on the same area of athe fish some pretty dramatic i thought until i saw that? Crazy....he bout deserves to live another day......

i will see if i can find the pic of a northern i caught at the mouth of chitinago creek in oneida lake.i was fishin with a spinner bait and hooked a 25 inch northern and a monster tiger musky hammered it.messed the northern up pretty bad.

Caught this little guy last year that took a hit from a pike or a muskie and survived. Surprised its still eating considering that its stomach was split open.

My guess would be a turtle almost had him a meal at some point .
One would think a prop would not be as clean of a wound on a small fish like that .

I wonder if it might be a birth defect. Do fish suffer spina bifida or is that a mammal only sort of thing? my thinking is that if it were an injury, it would have been paralyzed from the injury site down, limiting it's ability to swim etc and might have died from an injury such as that. Interesting fish

looks like old pike bait and a hook wound?

You should cook the fish first before you take a bite out of it
