The floor

The floor with plywood laid on top

Plywood going on

Plywood mounted and runners mounted. 8' wall is built but not mounted

It is 8'x10' with 2x4 floor 2x8x12 runners screwed together, walls are 2x2's screwed and glued. That 8' wall was suppose to have a window going across it untill I saw the price of plexi-glass. Walls are 6'6" tall and it will have a pitched metal roof and 110v wiring throughout with lights and outlets. Going to be heated by a homemade woodstove. What is everyone using for the floor? Carpet? Paint?

Don't do carpet.  When it gets wet...it takes a while to dry out.  Paint works best, drys well, is easy to maintain and, if you wear "creepers", it is a must.  Consider how much "traffic" you will be getting.  We are in-and-out of our 6x8 a lot during the day and also use it  for overnighters.

I think I'm going to use that rubberized undercoating stuff. Cheap and should offer decent traction. I wanted carpet but it will definately take a while to dry out. Shacks going to be painted blue with silver trim and a big budlight logo on each side!! haha Thats just how I role! Probably going to work on it tonight. I still need to build another 10' wall and the 8' wall with the door in it. Then the roof and then put the luan skin on! That wont be till next weekend though. I'll get somemore pics up as I build it. Thanks for the ideas guys!!

standard procedure a few lakes around where I fish.  Folks plow a road out to the main part of the lake and try to keep
the road open.  It helps the ice form/stay hard by keeping the snow off, and makes it easier driving to/from all the
shacks they put out.  A regular little ice fishing town of shanties.  Not all bunched together mind you, but creates a
fun social atmosphere at times.  Hop on your sled or atv and go visit the neighbors to see what they're catching or not.
Maybe have lunch or breakfast at a friend's shack, share some beers, etc.  Folks with the trucks and plows seem to
take turns.

I don't have a shack yet. Only my Clam pop up.

But I have a shed full of lumber and a girlfriend thats going out of town on business all next week. She might come back to find a half built shanty in the garage.

I like to keep em light and simple. It is done in gel coated fiberglass and weighs 1,520 lbs empty. Pretty bare. One bunk on top of a large storage box, six holes and a 15,000 BTU direct vent heater.

Mine is 2x2 wall studs on 16" centers and waterproof FRP paneling for the walls and ceiling. Very easy to clean and keep clean.

They tried that on my local lake last year with a fairly new F-350 w/ a 10' fisher plow. They definately should have waited until there was more than 6 inchs of ice though !  :woot: :pinch: :roflmao:

I don't know if you guys heard about it or remember it, but a couple years ago a county employee somewhere in Minnysoda sunk a large loader belonging to the county while plowing a path to some ice shacks. I wonder if he found another job yet.  :o ;D

 Cool shack TM.

This is pretty close to the design I was thinking for my micro-shack build, with the waterproof fabric. (or is that tarp you used?) Mine would be alot smaller though and Id use wood 2x2s.

I keep a couple cut up T-shirts as window wiping rags handy. Wipe veeerrrrry slow.

Sucks wiping but I'll never go with plexiglass again, it sweats just as bad but never seems to be totally clear of fog.

Wood heat would be better than propane too, but thats all Ive got.

Our house

Door side, gas grill, solar panels, ratchet tie downs, auger hung up on wall for traveling.

Side view

Same side view

Wind side, just a few of my friends.

Other side

Inside, there's a lot going on.

My side pretty busy

My wife's side still busy

Sliding table, underwater monitors, fish finder

Each year I add on more pics on the outside of the folks on our lake. My plans are to collage the entire house with pics taken over the years and create a "History" of ice fishing on Newfound lake.

There's a few more modifications added to the house this year....

JIGGIN.
