I did.  It's a rubber coated nylon I picked up at a fabric store.  The windows are thick flexible plastic sewn in.

Nice rig.

The slider windows is a great idea.  I know a lot of guys take them out of trucks and replace with a solid. Way to recycle!

Cool Blue...  That's one sweet looking shack man!  Clean!  I salvaged some tinted plexiglass  'bubble' windows out of a discarded pickup, but they are pretty scratched up so I decided not to use them.
You did a superb job in your design and construction!  WTG!!!
(I especially liked the door handle)
Are you SURE it's safe to walk on? Looks questionable to me!

NH trout fisherman:

do you take the wheels off to put it on the ice?
i have a similar looking house, but dont/cant take the wheels off so i need alot of snow to bank up, or i need to figure out a way to seal off the gap between the house and the ice if there is not much snow.

any ideas?  how are you solving this issue?

Hey Fish wiz,

We actually just use ours as a shelter and sleep in it during derbies. I pull it right out onto the ice with a 4 wheeler and put jack stands on the corners. I don't leave it in any one spot for too long and try to be sure to tend to it when the snow/slush builds up.

My buddies Dad has one built very similar, He jigs out of his and has used a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out to place over the holes and act as a sleeve. He also tried round duct-work in the past. As far as the gap underneath He has tacked luan around the base to act as a skirt and block out snow drifts.

Fishwiz4, If you would hang canvas or a vinyl skirt off of the bottom of your shack (or trailer) your heating problems would greatly reduced. Cheap and pretty easy to do. Same principal as on a flip over. Bank snow on the skirt and I think you are good to go.

i actually made a skirt out of a heavy duty tarp, but it was very difficult to attach to the hosue in the wind and cold.  i ended up just throwing it in the garage, and shoveling snow as far under the house and up the sides as i could.  this way, when i drill my holes, i have an entire tube of snow down to my hole.  it works reasonably well, but i do get some freezing problems, especially when it is close to or below zero.

I use the buckets with the bottoms cut out, was having freezing problems till i aimed a cheap battery powered fan down from the ceiling. keeps all the heat circulating, not just on the top. i had 2 heaters and the stove going on one zero degree day, but no fan, and the holes were icing. the next day was just as cold, but i used only the 2 heaters and not the stove, but brought a fan and not only did the holes stay open, i was warmer and used less gas. alot of heat stays up high and escapes from the roof, but with a fan, your problems will be solved.

Very nice work on that shack man.  Looks really nice.  Is it made to fold up (or collapse) for transport?

It folds up with heavy duty hinges on the inside. And for the other queston I stapled the bottom of it and the border is 1'' plastic molding for vinyl siding that's nailed on. It is very durable and light weight too.

Hers a few of what people have dubbed the Trump Plaza. 12 x 12, with a wood stove that keeps it 65* in there even at -10 with -20* wind chills.

Here's a shot of me and my bro's shacks.

Mine is the Blue Fish Trap Guide, circa 2005.

My bro's is the Red BP2 by Clam, circa 2008

I like the contrast between the two shacks on the ice!

The BP2 is a Clam Guide without the bench seat. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the current Guide model. I added a framework, storage and seats. Also found space for the all essential cupholders. I saved some money on the initial purchase but spent the difference and more on the modifications. I wasn't fan of the poorly designed bench seat in the Guide.
