Nope
Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish
          Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
       I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
           And peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be Judged
              BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

Went out this morning.  Trudged through 10 inches of snow, then would break through 3 inches of water to get to the main ice.  Wore me out.  I am done until we get the good deep freeze in a couple days to tighten the top up.  This old man just can't hack it like I used to.  Unless of course there is a lake out there that is easy walking.   :cookoo:

I got 13 this evening.....again fish were there but had lockjaw for the most part.  We had one flurry until some pike came in and ran the pannies off.

We got 12 tonight... Only 1 crappie!  The bite was tough not like it has been... I could mark fish and make them rise only to tease me.   ??? ???

This thread was started on Dec. 17th 2007.  You guys are going waaaaaaay back into the archives looking for posts that are over 4 years old :roflmao:.  My highlight of the night was catching a northern pike on 1/2 lb test line, and a rod with no reel that takes drag and a good perch.  Ended up with 9.  I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a goooooooooood day ;D

Let me guess, in a snuff can with a loose lid on it that is inside of a small ziplock bag.  Oh well, I coulda used about any jig yesterday and it didnt seem to matter.  Same story that Jack had the morning before, except my story also ended with the same story for the evening bite.

Went to a late ice lake this morning by myself and said if no one was fishing, I wasn't going on.  Well no one was fishing so I went home. I really think this lake had fishable ice, but I wasn't going to chance it. No more than I got home the phone rang and it was a friend that was sitting out on the ice of a different lake.  So I put my gear back in the truck and went to that lake.  There was 3 to 4 inches of ice on this lake.  Didn't mark many fish.  Caught just 3 small perch.
These 2 pictures is of some sand that got blown or washed down on the ice where you get on.

My fishing buddy just called me and said that he heard on his police scanner that 2 guys fell through on Juno lake channel and got out OK. Then another call came in that a guy fell through on Eagle and they were still trying to rescue him. The rescue team called for a boat to slide across the ice to try and get him. Haven't heard the outcome on this yet. If you still plan on getting out, take all precautions(rope, pics, spud) with you.

Anyone going out on a lake now has a death wish or wants to join the polar bear club.  The two lakes with the most ice I knew of all season are no longer safe.  Spud went right thru on second hit.  Top 3 inches of 'ice' is nothing but slush that can be scrapped away with your boots.  An inch if ice full of water holes under that.  Channels on Wawasee are no longer safe as of yesterday at about 6 pm....ice went from 4-5" to 2.5-3 of sponge/honeycombed ice.  Stay safe all....get the boats out on the bigger lakes that are open if you have to get out.

I guess they didn't fall through, but couldn't get off the ice, so they called 911 for rescue help.

Man i hope we get a lot colder temps next year. Maybe I won't have to drive that 500 mile round trip to get on some safe ice.
I don't give in till I get enough!!!
