PB Slab
« on: Dec 11, 2007, 05:22 AM »
Had a few hours to kill this afternoon so I went to out on the ice. A few people were already out there. I set up over 10' of water. Got into the crappie almost right away. Some keepers and a few dinks. Then I nailed a 13.5 incher.....my PB crappie! Sweet! ;D ;D

Didn't get any 'gills.....found that strange.

Saw bucketmouth down there just as I was about to leave.....good to see ya lad! :)
been out on the ice lately?......slip slidin' away.....slip slidin' away.....I sat down in my hut and now I'm slip slidin' away....

Great Crappie Man!

I hit the ice yesterday at Petrie Island, in Crappie Bay on the Ottawa river.  The fish were a bit shy but I did manage five keepers  and they will be tasty.  Can't wait to get out again.  The bite was feather light but with my LX-5 flasher I was able to see them rise to the jig and if I just pulled it slightly away slowly it almost always triggered a hit.

Tons of fun for sure.... now I can't wait for Walleye Bay to freeze enough to try those fish on for size.... first ice eyes.... can't wait.

Cool,

I kept switching up from the Forage Minnow Spoon to the Hornet Grub jigs and it seemed to have worked on that day. No need for a spring bobber, when a Slab-O nails your jig, you know...

By the way, love the new rods  :D
