JetSled Modification
« on: Dec 09, 2007, 12:18 PM »
With inspiration from Ron Carr I decided to modify my Jetsled....check it out

Easy to do...jigsaw, drill, 1.5 inch PVC and some strong wire ties....

Sick of fighting jig sticks out of a bucket..

Whaddya think?

I fit one bucket with my vex, a good size ash basket with my tilts, auger, bait bucket, aquaview and chair...also carry stove if needed and my expedition suit (dont wear it walking out and drilling)....i get some help from the bungi cords....thats why i attached the holders on the outside of the sled..K

some nice mods, don' think they would work on a Jet sled JR though.  i made a box out of a plastic trunk i picked up at walmart.  put rod holder on the lid, all gear goes in the trunk, then chair, auger and shiner bucket get bungeed on top.

yeah...i found the JR too small....nice mod Jeeps....I like it..especially the box idea...although looks tight for a gas auger....My next move would be a  removeable frame setup go stack efficiently...maybe a box for a base...K

have to break the power auger in 2, powerhead goes up front in the empty space, and the bit goes in the same place the hand auger bit is

Should mount the auger on the back like an outboard motor lol  I love it uno. You might need a spare paddle for that boat.

Karl nice mods on the sled. I put my old one on skis for when the snow gets deep. Jetsleds are heavy dragging when loaded up in deep snow. I like the rodholders but ya need more right Ron :cookoo: I think he has 15 now lol. Hope to see ya out there again. And Ron the pic of luke is priceless he's gonna be just like his dad ;D

I use the following set up. I tie two large orange sleds about 4.5 long. I can then place my
3 person shanty inside the two sleds. Shanty fits perfect inside an sleds pull easy with heavy
load. My brother drags a large jet sled an works harder w/less gear.
Bungie holds down my chair, tip up bag an auger which
sit on top of shanty. I carry the safety spud in hand an bait.
This set up works well on N VT lakes where half mile walk to a1 spot is the norm.

Holders look great Karl.  I love seeing peoples mods for their ice boxes/shanties....actually anything to make the trip out onto the ice either easier or more comfortable.  Keep the ideas coming boys!!   ;D
That taxidermy man back home gonna have a heart attack when he see what I bring'em!!
