not as of two days ago...not sure now. I haven't been up there yet.  The wind was blowing hard down through there then with this snow I would give it a few more days.

I went down leasure ln. to the beach on Sunday..There was only 1" of ice there..I didn't walk around to the point to check the back side...But with the snow that we have now I'm sure it turned to slush...Should freeze up by this weekend...I charged the flasher just for this occasion.

No....Crappieville is on a back cove..Just up the lake from the dam.

I responded to that....acurate report but not what you think. The sled was crossing a beaver flowadge in the tall grass. Current and the grass led to the thin ice. Water only a foot deep or so so no one hurt but still a good idea to stay off the ice for a day or two

I had a list of the crappie waters here in Maine, but can't seem to locate it.  If you write to IFW, they will email you the list...

I'll dig around to see if I can find a list of lakes and ponds that hold them...
It can be real fun catching slabs..get your self a ultra light jig rod and some small jigs..
A flasher is a great tool to help locate them.

Nice work guys, thanks! I have 2 questions though..
1) Which Range pond has slabs? I've fished Middle and Upper several times and never came up with one.
2) Has anybody targeted Crappie in Sebago Lake? If so, any pointers? That's pretty close to me (in Gray) and I'd be interested in giving it a try if it's worth it.

thanks,
J-

I just got 47 more crappie hooks in the mail today. I heard that 2# test is what you want to use for pan fish, is that right? Looking at the size of the hooks I don't think you could use anything bigger. I'm getting ready for some night fishing. I'm gluing down some carpet in my Clam right now.

I've used up to 6lbs test for Crappie before.  They didn't seem to mind.  Gives you a little flexibility too in case something bigger comes along.  I'll probably have 6lbs on one rod and 4lb on another.

I think you will have problems with two lb. test pegasus. Some of those slabs go up to 3 lbs. and then add ice and cold fingers. Quite a few of the guys use power pro like 8 lb. test with a 2 lb diamenter.  ;)

I fished off my folks slip in sebago and caught crappie before, they don't have the slip anymore though and it's gated access - haven't caught them anywhere else in sebago but haven't specifically been targeting them there either.
